I Move,I Learn

Training Course Project.

A very beautiful experience in the Czech Republic has just ended with the successful completion of “I move, I learn Training Course,” which took place in Luzice, Czechia from July 10th to July 19th 2024. It is important to record and highlight everything that was reported to us by the people that took part in the Programme- 3 participants from 8 differnt countries – Lithuania, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Czechia – tottally 24 people.

Physical Education Teachers have been using some very common Team Sports, like football, basketball, handball, volleyball, etc. for many years during their PE classes. As a consequence, the benefits of this kind of activities in PE lessons have not been as notable as we might have expected, since, despite their increase, their development and application are still low. There are several new Non-Traditional Sports that havenemerged and extended across Europe. In accordance with this, we took part in the Erasmus Program “I move, I learn” which covered the belowtopics.

First, we practiced in some Non-Traditional Games (e.g ultimate frisbee, Molk, spikeball and Kubb) along with some Inclusive/Adaptive Sports (like goalball, sitting volleyball etc) and some team-building games (such as acro-yoga, Siamese football and others). Apart from these Non-Traditional Games, we also created some new Educational and certain adaptive Games, such as “Sequel” & “Echo Ball” (created for visually impaired people), “Catch a Berry” & “Hoop Ball” (created to encourage and strengthen team building among participants) and finally some Educational Games as well, like “Lingo Arena” & “Card Hunter” (created to help participant to acquire a new specifick nowledge).

Aside from the Physical Activities included in the Program, we also participated in some Theoretical Workshops on the Topic of Education Through Sports Methodology. These included one Workshop

explaining the good and the bad characteristics of a Leader (leadership workshop), another Workshop on how we perceive Education Throughs Sports where we also provided a few relevant examples. We also worked with our National Team during a Workshop on Leading a Healthy Lifestyle, where we had to come up with ideas in order to promote a Healthy Lifestyle for children. This included coming up with a system for schools to provide children with Healthy Food choices and educate them on being healthy in their day to day lives. As a result of this Workshop, we created a proposal which included Schools providing Healthy meals, children cultivating their own fruit and vegetables to cook their own meals, having small meditation sessions between classes etc. Furthermore, each night we had an Intercultural Night where each National Team presented their country by showing us some Traditional Dances as well as sharing Traditional Foods, drinks and delicacies. The purpose of these Intercultural Nights is to accentuate the similarities and differences between the different Nations which was very successful among the members of this Erasmus Group.

Finally, we had a hiking trip to Lednice where there was a beautiful Château castle with many lakes and hiking paths providing us with a true Czech experience in the Nature.

Participants worked together to create and design their own education through sport and non-traditional games which were tested during the project. The games were distributed to partner organizations and will be freely available to everyone. You can download the booklet here:
